In light of these issues, even the “magic dot” feature that I originally proposed for 1SubML was a very watered down version of what OCaml allows. However, that didn’t really solve the issue. Watering it down just meant that the proposed feature offered almost no benefit while still incurring all the costs. Therefore, I decided it was best to just leave it out entirely.
